Clarification: When I write, I don't prepare or organize my ideas, I just write what I would say if I was talking to you in person, so sometimes my blogs end up a little messy. I don't even proof-read what I write before posting it so you may find grammatical mistakes and poorly written sentences. Sometimes I'll read my blogs a day or two after publishing them and I may re-write things that weren't too clear and any embarrassing grammatical mistake. Also, English is not my first language, so I apologize if reading my blogs become a struggle. Of course, if this is the case, I would imagine you wouldn't continue reading.

Responses From People Who Want To Believe

Scientists don’t know everything.

But they seem to trust scientists for everything else, including putting their lives at risk every time they go to the doctor or getting on a plane.

You can’t prove it doesn’t exist/it’s not real.

Yet they don’t believe in invisible dragons, Harry Potter, or when I tell them I’m actually an alien god that came from another galaxy, even when they can't prove those things aren't real either.

You are close minded.

But they don’t seem to be particularly open minded when it comes to accepting their beliefs don't add up or have been debunked time after time or that have no evidence whatsoever or have simpler and more mundane explanations (e.i. placebo effect).

Everything is a world wide conspiracy/governments and corporations wants to kill them, make them sick and take their money.

But they live regular happy lives full of luxuries (compared to the rest of the world), supporting all the evil companies that feed them, clothe them and keep them medicated, with the best health and longest life expectancy that humans have ever enjoyed since the arrival of Homo Sapiens.

-----
I try to plant the seed of reason in them, but I know it will be nearly impossible for anyone to let go of their beliefs. I used to have faith, and I know when you have it, you think it's an essential part of who you are, so thinking about getting rid of your faith is like thinking about getting rid of an arm. So I just let them know that it doesn’t matter, that I don’t care about what they believe in, that I like them because I think they are cool people, and that's all it matters. It's a little strange and disappointing, however, after having these types of conversations, when they stop responding my texts or are suddenly too busy to hang out for the next few years.

The Poorly Written Instruction Manual Of Skepticism.

It appears to me that a lot of people have been using the terms skeptic, skeptical and skepticism incorrectly. I keep reading/hearing people labeling themselves as skeptics just because they have doubts of well established facts that happen to be against their own personal beliefs. That is not skepticism, but I'm not sure what it's called. Denial? Maybe bias? Delusion? I don't know. What I do know is that while the dictionary definition may actually describe accurately their behavior, they are not part of what is considered modern skepticism, the kind that aligns itself with reason and science. This is my silly attempt to explain skepticism to the 2 or 3 people who may end up reading these poorly written words.

Let's talk about GMOs

Genetically modified food is a very controversial topic these days and it's often debated across the social networks and forums. Although, I'm not sure if debated is the proper term, because not that many seem to have anything good to say about GMOs, or at least that's what I've seen. For the most part, GMO related threads consist in criticism and warnings about the danger GMOs represent for consumers and the environment (and Monsanto is an evil corporation ran by Satan himself), that usually turn into big circle jerks where anyone with a different POV gets blasted away by the vast majority. There are times where these discussions are more balanced and rational, but these are not the norm.

But is it true? Is this anti-GMO sentiment justified? Are the masses right? Are they fighting for a noble cause that will benefit humanity or is this the product of the natural fear humans tend to develop against changes and new things? I'm not an expert on the matter but I'm very interested.

Medicine's Goal & The Natural Way (Ethics Of Immortality)

What is medicine's goal? To help us live a healthy natural life? We already live well past our evolutionary natural lifespan. Chimps, for example, share over 98% of our DNA and they live between 40 and 50 years in the wild, which is about what we used to live a few hundred years ago. My grandad was 99 when he died and there was a French woman who lived for 123 years. That's 3 times of what we are supposed to live.
