It's The Fucking Grammys...

 

Why do people feel the need to justify the decision of the Grammys panel to give the Best Album Of The Year award to Beck instead of Beyonce, just because a jackass disagrees? Not just a jackass, but a jackass with a history of being a jackass at other similar awards ceremony?

My observations:

80's Synth Pop Bonanza

While doing my routinary video search for my HAPPY MORNINGS! updates, I stumbled upon a hidden treasure from the 80's pop music scene that completely surprised me, because I've never heard of any of these, uhmmm, "artists" before. I thought that knowing who Baltimora was and remembering the melody of his song, Tarzan Boy, meant that there was no cheesy 80's song that you couldn't find in some old dusty corner of my mind. Boy, I was wrong. There's not only a few songs, but a complete catalog of music (and videos). The deeper I dug, the more, uhmmm, amazing they got. I felt like Indiana Jones in a music archeological adventure, and I'm so excited to share my findings with the world, I just hope the world is ready to learn that these were some of the artists that once were part of the structure that sustained pop music. They may not be the most important ones, but they were there, in between New Order and Depeche Mode and Culture Club and Madonna, which to me is just fascinating. OK, enough introduction, let's reveal these gems I've found:

WITHOUT YOU WE'RE NOTHING - Being In An Indie Rock Band

If I asked you what do you think being in an indie rock band is, I would imagine some of you might say you think it's a fun hobby in which you meet with your friends to play and write music, perform live once a week or so, have a few followers and admirers, probably get laid every once in a while, and make an extra couple hundred of bucks a month. I think this would be the general idea for someone who's not too familiar with the music scene, and maybe it does describe how it is for some indie musicians out there, but my experience couldn't any more different. Being in a band is extremely rewarding to me but for very different reasons. When you take music as seriously as I do, being in a band is no different than any other job, a job that you love, that is.
